On April 22nd a public hearing was held for  LD 1020 “An Act to End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom. The Bill was sponsored by State Senator Denis Damon D-Trenton and had 63 co-sponsors. The hearing for LD 1020 was held at the Augusta Civic Center before the Maine Judiciary Committee.  Almost 4,000 people attended with the proponents of the bill outnumbering the opponents 3-1. Below is written testimony that was submitted to the Judiciary committee from members of the Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry.
